Finnish gaming studio PlayRaven picks up $4.1 million from Norwegian fund Northzone

playraven-screenFinnish gaming studio PlayRaven has announced that they have picked up another $4.1 million in a new funding round from Norwegian VC fund Northzone in an extended seed round. PlayRaven is probably best known for the game “Spymaster”, which they rolled out in September 2014 and which made its way up the charts in 99 countries.

The company boasts an experienced team of developers, with employees from game companies like Remedy Entertainment, Rockstar Games, Supercell, Wooga, and Unity. PlayRaven reports that they are planning to move into a nice, new office and are expanding their development team. At the moment, PlayRaven reports that they have 2 games in the pipeline and due to launch in 2015.

The company reports that this latest round brings their total external backing since 2013 to $7.5 million. Earlier this year, PlayRaven announced that they had picked up $2.3 million from Stockholm-based Creandum, London-based London Venture Partners, and Jari Ovaskainen.
