Viber launches ‘Public Chats’, a new social marketing tool tailored for IM platform

Instant messaging app Viber has introduced a new feature named “Public Chats” where users are able to listen in on the chats between celebrities, brands etc.. Cyprus-based company says users are now able to discover, share and interact with conversations, communities and content on mobile.

The free messaging app is launching the feature with a bunch of celebrities, personalities and brands, like Perez Hilton, Tyler Oakley, Pixie Lott, DJ Paul van Dyk, Next Model Management, European football channel COPA90 and many more. Anyone registered with Viber can follow as many of the public discussions as they want on their mobile devices. Chats may include photos, audio, video, stickers, web links as well.

Viber who was acquired by Japanese Rakuten earlier this year has more than 300 million users in over 190 countries.
