Just a few weeks ago, we did a piece on German startup HomeToGo, a meta search engine for hotels. At the time, we said that the startup intended to soon enter the British market and today, the company announced that they are ready for the move.
It has been an exciting few months for HomeToGo. In addition this entrance into the British market, the startup recently obtained an undisclosed amount of funding from Acton Capital Partners, early-stage investor DN Capital, and a group of “prominent” angels, money that it intends to use to fuel its plans to broaden its offerings and enter new markets. Through the new U.K.-oriented site, HomeToGo says that users can search through 2.7 million offers from more than 200 countries.
The founding trio behind HomeToGo, Patrick Andra, Wolfgang Heigl, and Nils Regge, are no strangers to online search engines, as Heigl previously founded Swoodoo, a flight-comparison portal that has since been acquired by Kayak, and Regge founded Casamundo, a search portal for holiday rentals. As we indicated earlier, they launched this site in April 2014 and now claim monthly user totals “in the six figures”.
