Appear Here, a British startup offering a platform through which people can rent space for pop-up shops, has announced that they have pulled in 7.5 million pounds from Balderton Capital and undisclosed others. The company says that this latest funding will be used to fuel international expansion in 2015 and to boost their customer service, including adding a concierge service and enabling online contracts and payments.
The company reports that they have facilitated 500 short-term lets within the past 12 months and have 600 properties available across the U.K. They also report that more than 10,000 brands are searching the database at any one time, which represents a dramatic increase over the 3,000 in 2013.
Appear Here was founded back in 2012 by 22-year-old entrepreneur Ross Bailey, who was inspired by experiences running his own pop-up shop, where he sold limited-edition T-shirts to mark the Queen’s jubilee. Almost exactly a year ago, Appear Here announced that they had pulled in 1 million pounds from Howzat Partners, MMC Ventures, and Forward Investment Partners. At that time, Appear Here announced that they had obtained an undisclosed amount of funding from Forward, Ballpark Ventures, and other angels the previous December.
