Less than a week after it acquires German Restaurant-Kritik, Yelp this time adds Cityvox of France to further beef up its recommendations and listings business across Europe. The US firm said the acquisition of French online review site that is specialised in the restaurant and nightlife categories is expected to boost Yelp‘s expansion in European market.
Cityvox is quite a popular review site in France, that hosts consumer reviews for businesses ranging from restaurants and brasseries to cinemas and clubs. Mike Ghaffary, Yelp’s vice president in charge of business and corporate development, said the rich review and photo content of Cityvox will soon be integrated.
As was the case with Restaurant-Kritik acquisition, Yelp has not disclosed the financial terms of Cityvox deal. It paid $50 million two years ago for the UK’s Qype, its main European rival then.
