Getting cosmetic repairs for your car is rarely pleasant, as even the smallest dents or scratches can seemingly run up a pretty hefty bill. In some cases , you can simply ignore and carry on with your business. But, for those who are in the Dutch market and are looking for a way to get the repairs done at a cheaper rate, Fixico provides a platform designed to help cut costs by allowing users to snap a photo of the damage and accept bids for the work.
The service requires users to input their license-plate information and zipcode, as well as submit a photo of the damage (all for free). Within 24 hours, they are presented with at least 3 quotes from local repair-shops, which can be narrowed down by price, service-level, and reviews from other customers, and can proceed from there. And, so that you do not wind up with some sketchy repair place, Fixico states that the 436 shops with whom they partner are FOCWA-certified and offer a 4-year guarantee. Fixico initially focused on damage that is not covered by insurers, but has recently partnered with insurance companies to roll out an insurance product.
Fixico generates revenue through one-off sign-up fees from bodyshops, as well taking a commission on each sale processed.
Fixico has just pulled in 2 million Euro from British-Dutch investment fund Orange Growth Capital, as well as previous investors and shareholders like Laurents Groenendijk. This latest injection of funding brings the total amount that they have raised to 2.6 million Euro. The startup will continue to scale-up within the Dutch market, but they also now intend to expand beyond The Netherlands, although they declined to say where, in Q3 of this year.
Since launching in 2013, Fixico reports that they have helped generate 50,000 quotes and helped customers to save an average of 30% on repairs. The company also states that they have grown by 450% within just the past year and are up to 25 employees, with 10 vacancies.
