British social network Tagstr has announced that they have pulled in $1 million in additional seed funding, bringing the total amount that they have raised to $2.6 million. The Cheltenham-based startup says that they intend to use this latest bit of funding, which comes from an undisclosed investor (only saying that all backing comes from high-net-worth individuals), to build partnerships and continue to develop the platform.
Tagstr has an app, currently available in the App Store that allows users to share videos, photos, and audio through themes, as opposed to following. The idea is that users can check out all audio and video content posted for a particular event, such as Glastonbury, rather than simply seeing what friends post. Just last week, Tagstr rolled out a feature that allows users to search by location and check all of the content that is being posted in their area. The startup is also highlighting the fact that users can upload multiple pieces of content at once, access full-screen view, and swipe through.
Although there is no shortage of social networks out there, Tagstr has become quite popular since it launched in August 2014, reporting that they now have 500K users and that users have shared 20 million pieces of content.
