Geeksphone sells its 50% stake in Blackphone project to its partner Silent Circle

Blackphone-lifeGeeksphone, the Spanish company who develops and produces security-focused Blackphone in cooperation with Swiss Silent Circle, announced today that it has agreed to sell its 50% share in the partnership to its partner. After the agreement, the partnership titled SGP will remain under full control of Silent Circle.

Founded in 2009, Geeksphone has devoted its efforts to the design and manufacture of last generation smartphones. Joined later by Silent Circle under SGP, Geeksphone has developed Blackphone, a project based on mobile security and data privacy.

The financial figures of the deal has not been disclosed. SGP will keep its Madrid offices to continue developing the Blackphone project whereas Javier Aguera, Geeksphone and SGP cofounder, will remain in the company as Blackphone´s Chief Scientist.

SGP has started shipping first bulk of Blackphones last June.
