Opera Mediaworks, the mobile ads business of Norway-based software developer Opera, has announced today the acquisition of South African mobile advertising network AdVine. Through the acquisition, Opera aims to boost its presence and business in Africa which it sees as one of the fastest growing and most promising mobile markets in the world.
AdVine is the leading mobile ad network in Sub-Saharan Africa and has already been working with OM for brands interested in reaching mobile consumers in the region. Other high profile customers of AdVine includes BBC and Shazam.
The company underlines that there are more than 600 million mobile phone subscribers in Sub-Saharan Africa and the figure is expected to reach 930 million by the end of 2019, according to Ericsson Mobility Report.
