Turkey GREAT Startup Competition winners announced

great-startup-awardsWith the ultimate purpose of encouraging creative tech businesses around the world to collaborate with the British, the large scale GREAT Britain campaigners has chosen Istanbul as one of the regional hotspots to hold their activities. Great Startup Awards, organized within the framework of the global campaign which was launched globally in 2012 and earlier this year in Turkey, have been announced yesterday.

Out of 186 applications collected in 4 months, HotelRunner, Favoreat, VitrinGez, Visionteractive and AloTech won the prestigious awards in five categories.

HotelRunner who won Special Jury Prize is an online sales and digital marketing platform for hotels and tourism companies. Natali Yeşilbahar has won Female Entrepreneur Award with her VitrinGez business, an online fashion retail aggregator which lets e-shoppers to search products across various fashion e-commerce sites.

Verda de Eskinazis took the Social Technology Award on behalf of her startup Favoreat, a marketplace where individuals can cook and sell to others in a social platform. Undergraduate Young Entrepreneur award went to Onur Candan who has founded Visionteractive, an app developing company with 7 social networks-based apps launched so far. AloTech, the provider of virtual call-center solutions, is the winner of Anatolian Tech Entrepreneur.

The winners will get an entrepreneurship-focused tour to the United Kingdom, which includes several meetings with mentors and leading business people, and consultancy services by accountants and lawyers on setting up in the UK, work visas, taxes etc..
