Yemeksepeti, the MENA leader in online food ordering, buys majority stake in Jordanian ifood.jo

yemeksepeti-ifoodYemeksepeti, the online food ordering company based in Istanbul, has announced that it has acquired majority shares in ifood.jo, the market leader in Jordan, for an undisclosed amount. With the acquisition, the regional leader has increased the number of countries it operates in to 8.

The investment will give a boost to the regional expansion of Yemeksepeti which has already achieved almost 200% growth across MENA. The funds that will put into ifood’s vaults will be used to add new customers as well as to help Yemeksepeti’s strategic geographic growth. ifood.jo’s founders,Omar Akel and Zeid Husban, will continue running the company while yemeksepeti.com will handle the transfer of technology, knowhow and expertise.

Founded in 2011, ifood.jo now operates in 6 cities in Jordan, serving food to its 25K+ members from over 200 restaurants.
