Skype announced today the launch of a new video messaging app named Skype Qik. The new app that works alongside the main Skype app is already available for download on Google Play, Apple App Store and Windows Phone Store.
Skype Qik lets Skype members to share short video messages with each other or a group of friends. The video clips can be up to 42 second long and last 2 weeks each.
The video messages sent by mistake or the sender does not like any more, can be erased from the chat regardless of it been watched or not. The user can also block contacts on Android and Windows Phone. This feature will be available on iPhone in the coming months.
The app has a feature called Qik Fliks, the little GIF–like 5 second videos the user can store and use whenever needed. They are sort of personal smileys that can be sent with just a tap. The user can record and store up to 12 Qik Fliks. This feature is available on Android and iPhone and is coming to Windows Phone very soon.
