Helsinki and Los Angeles-based game-developer Seriously announces that they have raised an additional $2.65 in a Series B round from current investors Copenhagen-based Sunstone Capital and Los Angeles-based Upfront Ventures and new investor Daher Capital. This latest round brings their total funding up to $5 million.
Seriously was founded by a pair of former Rovio executives in Andrew Stalbow and Petri Jarvilehto. They have yet to actually launch, but that’s by design. Stalbow said last year that they intend to start out by building their team. Seriously says that all of their games will be available for free and that they are planning to release their first title later this summer.
Just recently, Jarvilehto talked about the importance of branding for mobile games with the saturation of the market. Rovio Stalbow was in charge of developing partnerships for Rovio, so they have connections and it may indicate plans for their business.
In addition to the funding, Seriously announced that they have expanded their team to 12.
