Russian hotel booking website Ostrovok.ru adds NYC-based Vaizra Capital among its high-profile investors, with a round of funding worth $12 million. Backed by Vkontakte co-founders Vyacheslav Mirilashvili and Lev Leviev, Vaizra now joins Accel Partners, Esther Dyson, Yuri Milner and Atomico Ventures, increasing the total funding closed so far to slightly over $50 million.
As a part of the deal, Ostrovok’s previous investor and Qunar co-founder Fritz Demopoulos will join the company’s board of directors.
Ostrovok has announced that the new capital will be used primarily in effort to improve the accommodation database and expand to neighboring countries.
