Commerce Guys, the creator of Drupal Commerce, announces that they have obtained $7.3 million in Series B funding from French investors Hi Inov, Isai, and Alven Capital and Finnish fund Open Ocean Capital. This latest round adds to the $5 million that Isai and Alven Capital previously invested in the company in 2012 and bring the investment total to $12.3 million.
Within this latest round, the company says that they intend to accelerate the global rollout of Platform.sh, cloud development and hosting service for Drupal that the company launched on May 13, 2014.
Platform is billed as a continuous-delivery cloud-based service that supports Drupal, Symfony, and other PHP-based applications and is designed for systems integrators, digital agencies, and individual websites. Based on the Amazon cloud, this Platform-as-a-service (PaaS) aims to help web-application developers to implement Continuous Delivery in a more secure, economical, and efficient manner.
Commerce Guys maintains offices in Paris, London, and the United States, with Frederic Plais working as the company’s CEO. They claim 38K users, with notable clients including Cartier, Stanford University, Eurostar, Guerlain, Lush, Royal Mail, and NBC Universal. As part of this deal, Hi Inov Director General Valerie Gombart will become a director at Commerce Guys.
