Global venture capital firm Accel Partners has announced today the appointment of Fred Destin as a Partner in London. Mostly known for successful early stage and seed investments, Destin is expected to strengthen company’s capabilities in finding the best entrepreneurs in Europe and Israel.
As a strong supporter of a wider and healthy ecosystem made up of diverse and innovative startups, Destin has been investing particularly in early stage ventures for almost 14 years now, most recently at Atlas Venture which he joined in March 2004. Previously, he was a co-founding investor of Seedcamp, where he was an active board member for 5 years, and an engaged mentor and supporter of TechStars Boston.
His strong track record in Europe includes seed-investing in British online real estate stalwart Zoopla and a first round investment in Dailymotion, the largest European digital media site (sold to France Telecom). He will be joining Harry Nelis, a Partner at Accel London, who says they are thrilled to welcome Fred to the team. He adds, “He brings with him a deep working knowledge of the European market and proven success investing in the region, particularly at the early stage. As entrepreneurship continues to flourish, his strong experience bolsters the team’s capabilities to invest in the most disruptive innovation across Europe and Israel.
Destin himself said: “Accel has an outstanding track record of investing in global technology leaders. This is an exciting time for entrepreneurship and innovation in Europe, and I am delighted to be returning to London to join what I consider to be the strongest team in the market today.”
Originally from Silicon Valley, Accel Partners recently pursues expansionist policies mainly targeting European and Mediterranean markets. Last January, the company promoted Philippe Botteri and Michiel Kotting to partner in a move to further expand in Europe and Israel.
