In April 2010 we had written about tinypay.me, whose founder Melvin Tercan participated in Webrazzi Agenda: E-Trading meeting as one of the speakers in March 2011. Melvin Tercan mentioned that they wanted to open an office in San Francisco Silicon Valley and were looking to receive an investment. Later on he talked about negotiations with investors and plans of an office in Silicon Valley in our interview with him.
tinypay.me has realized its aim of moving to Silicon Valley with the investment of 1 million dollars it has received from Aksoy Internet Ventures, and will continue to grow globally from there. tinypay.me already reaches users from 120 countires and i believe that it will make good use of sahibinden.com’s experience, which has 2 billion page views per month and has more than 20 million users, in the coming period.
Aksoy Internet Ventures CEO Taner Aksoy says:
As AIV, we are very excited by the accessibility, growth rate and creative approaches of this game changing team of tinypay.me. With our experience in e-trading and financial support, we are certain that Tinypay.me will be a big hit globally.
tinypay.me founding partner and CEO Melvin Tercan says:
We enable our users start selling in less than 1 minute, so e-trading reaches large audiences. Users pay for items that are easily shared on social networks including Facebook and Twitter via PayPal. Thanks to tinypay.me where second hand and digital items are easily sold, users are able to create their own marketplaces. We have founded tinypay.me with great efforts, and I believe that we will carry it much further with the support of AIV, which had a great success with sahibinden.com, having an internet experience of more than 10 years.
I believe it is quite valuable that an experienced team from Turkey has started an investment company and made a global scale investment. Aksoy Internet Ventures will not only financially support tinypay.me’s dynamic team, but also provide a good deal of know-how to them.
Before tinypay.me, Aksoy Internet Ventures made an investment in social time guide Dakick.com. For further information you can read our interview with Taner Aksoy on Aksoy Internet Ventures in April 2011.
