We had informed you before that in September 2008, Akgün Kulmac and Tamer Kulmac made an investment on TurkStudent.net, the social networking website for high school and college students. And now, another investment comes from Caglar Erol for TurkStudent.net.
Upon learning that Akgun and Tamer Kulmaz, the first investors of the site have left the partnership, Caglar Erol has confirmed this news to be official. Birol Kabakoglu, partner of tasit.com, is the other investor of the web site along with Caglar Erol.
We have also learned that, after the investment the two partners have 12% share at Turkstudent.net per each.
Germany headquartered social networking website TurkStudent is a 10-year old initiative and has more than 500 thousand users today. The website is visited by an average of 20 thousand individual users a day, while the number of visitors increases by 60 thousand a day during university exam period. Other partners of the website, which has 200 thousand page views on a typical day, are Suat Imamoglu, Fatih Dogan, Gazi Keskin and Volkan Senturk.
Considering the business success Caglar Erol achieved with Cember.net in the past, we should not take this news about the investment on TurkStudent.net any differently. On the other hand, together with increased marketing campaigns for young people, these social networks can seize the opportunities of potential boom.
For this reason, this kind of investments, which I assume are made with small budgets, can generate revenue, and even be a breakout initiative, which was not achieved in 10 years, as in this example.
